Section of M2 to be closed for barrier repairs

Motorists are advised that a section of the M2 northbound will be closed overnight for barrier repair works.

The lane closure, which will commence at 11pm tonight (Thursday), will run from Junction 2 Greencastle to Junction 4 Sandyknowes.

The M2 northbound Junction 2 Greencastle on-slip will also be closed as part of the scheme.

Commenting on the on-slip closure, a Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “An alternate route is Shore Road northbound, Shore Road Link southbound, Shore Road southbound, Fortwilliam Roundabout, M2 northbound Junction 1 on-slip.”

Road users are advised to expect an estimated delay of up to five minutes.

The work is due to be completed by 6am on Friday, January 29.

The Times reported earlier this month that motorists were advised to expect delays of up to 15 minutes when the Greencastle on-slip southbound was closed for works on January 14.
