The Torrent representative said: “Over the course of the past few months I have been lobbying Council and Department of Infrastructure (DFI) officials about speeding issues on the Ardboe Road, which have been raised with me by parents and community representatives in the local area.

"Serious concerns about the potential for a serious accident due to excess speed exist in a number of areas of the Loughshore with this being one of the hot spots identified and whilst this sign will not prevent all motorists speeding, it will at least encourage some people to slow down and it is a welcome step in the right direction.”

Councillor McAleer added that he will continue to liaise with Council and DFI officials in an effort to introduce more road safety measures in the Loughshore area.
