Storm Francis: Newtownabbey roads blocked by fallen trees

Motorists are being advised to exercise caution due to hazardous driving conditions across the region due to Storm Francis.

Trees are blocking a number of local roads.

Commenting on the issue, a Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “A number of routes are affected by fallen trees.

“In Newtownabbey, one lane of the O’Neill Road near the recycling centre is blocked.”

Meanwhile, a tree is down at the junction of the Seskin Road and Ballylagan Road in Straid.

Urging road users to be cautious, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Storm Francis is making for some hazardous driving conditions this morning.

“Please reduce speed, use your headlights and exercise caution.”
