Two sudden deaths send shockwaves through community

THE sudden deaths of two young people from the same street in Lurgan have sent shockwaves through the community.

Daniel Lennon (14) and David McAdam (28) both lived on Demesne Avenue. Their deaths occurred just over a day apart last week.

Daniel took his own life on Wednesday night while David died suddenly and was discovered on Friday morning. The cause of David’s death was unknown at the time of going to press.

Police confirmed they attended a report of a sudden death of a 14-year-old boy on Wednesday night in Demesne Avenue and on Friday morning they returned to the street after receiving a report of a sudden death of a 28-year-old man.

In both cases, police are not treating the deaths as suspicious.

Daniel’s funeral took place on Saturday from Lurgan Salvation Army Citadel in Union Street followed by interment in Lurgan Cemetery.

David’s took place on Monday at High Street Methodist Church, followed by burial at Kernan Cemetery.

The Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Carla Lockhart has, on behalf of Craigavon Borough Council, offered her condolences to the Lennon and McAdam families on the sudden and untimely passing of their family members Daniel and David.

She said: “My thoughts and prayers are with their immediate families, the wider family circle and all of their friends.”

The Mayor of Craigavon added: “This is a very difficult time for those close to them and I pray that the Lord will comfort them in the days, weeks and months ahead.”
