Treasure Hunt for Malawi

THERE was a good turn out at the Treasure Hunt held by Donemana Presbyterian Church last Friday night, 18th June.

The Treasure Hunt was the continuation of the fundraising events held to aid projects for the Malawi Support Group who had travelled out to Malawi last July. Cars left the Church car park from 7.30pm onwards. The route took place round the locality, up Killenagh, through Drain, Gorticlare, Liscloon and back to Donemana.

These wee roads never saw as much reversing or cars turning as they saw on Friday night. It was a great night's fun with most drivers keen to double-check their answers and doing the route a second time. After this hungry work, everyone came back to the church hall for delicious burgers and hotdogs barbecued by Ivan and Lillian McIvor who spent the entire evening preparing the food. Although it was a little chilly the barbecue took place outside.

Janet Dunn, Shirley Fulton and Lorna McFarland from Ballymagorry and Donagheady tied in first place with Ronnie, Pearl, Jennifer, Alison, Billy and Gwen Smyth. Next place went to Elsie McCombe, Margaret Forbes, Angela Hamilton, Stewart, Rachel and Mervyn McCombe. There were prizes for every person who went out on the Treasure Hunt and, in order of results, everyone made their selection.

At the end of the evening, Rev. Dr. Stewart Jones, on behalf of the Malawi Support Group, thanked Pamela McCombe for adjudicating, Ivan and Lillian for cooking, all who contributed prizes for the event and anyone who played a part in making the evening a resounding success.
