Triangle towns to be revitalised

THE towns of Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart are set to be revitalised subject to funding through a DSD programme.

Portrush has already been enhanced through the programme, but an extension to the funding could see other areas of the town being re-energised.

At last Tuesday’s Policy and Development meeting, councillors were told that in Portrush, if funding is granted, the areas that will be concentrated on will be Bath Street, Causeway Street, Eglinton Street, Dunluce Avenue and Dunluce Lane.

Portstewart is not being left out of the scheme.

If funding is granted the full length of the Promenade and the Diamond would be included in the scheme.

In Coleraine the Waterside and Bridge Street area will be prioritised through the programme.

A case will also be made for a secondary phase of work on the Railway Road area.

Members welcomed the initiatives and agreed that officers should proceed with the funding process.
