Tribute to Pastor Kennedy

Tributes were paid to the late Pastor Billy Kennedy from Lurgan who passed away on March 23.

DUP Cllr Philip Moutray said he was from a family of nine and loved his football.

“He was paid £800 to turn professional in the 1950s,” said Cllr Moutray.

“But it was for his gospel that he was well known,” he told Craigavon Council on Monday night, adding the Pastor Kennedy had preached at Lurgan Baptist Church, Liverpool, Scotland and across Northern Ireland, speaking often in schools.

“He was a good influence,” said Cllr Moutray who pointed out that there will be a Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday night at Lurgan Baptist Church.
