Mr McClean was well known and highly respected in the east Tyrone area and wider Mid Ulster area for his work with Speedwell, which aims to bring children from both sides of the community together through various education programmes.

He was described as an ‘amazing human being’ by his cousin.

“Yesterday afternoon we lost my cousin Eamon. I can’t begin to tell you what an amazing human being he was,” wrote Colin Broderick on his Facebook page.

“He was a family man; he leaves behind a wife and three young boys who adored him, he was a avid runner and cyclist, Friday he ran a 5k, Sunday he cycled a 70 mile run with his team, he devoted his life to helping others, charity work, humanitarian work, he was energetic selfless and joyful…. he was a good, good, dude.

“He was never without a smile… if there was a face you’d want to see peek around a door, whether it was at your house for a drop of tae, or at the local pub for a pint, it was Eamon’s. I’ve been in shock since hearing the news… we all have…. it’s heartbreaking. It’s a loss so sudden and inexplicable that it seems like a huge mistake has been made… Not Eamon!

“My heart goes out to his family, to my own family, and to the whole community. Thanks for all the smiles Eamon. You will be sorely missed. I just can’t believe you’re gone. RIP.”
