Trick or treat at Wallace Park on Hallowe’en

The city is also proving the perfect haunt for naughty woodland sprites Sylvr and Teal who are busy brewing all up all sorts of magic and mayhem for the enchanted evening.

Speaking at the launch, The Mayor of Lisburn Councillor Andrew Ewing said: “It is my great pleasure to welcome thousands of families to Wallace Park on Hallowe’en evening.

“Performers, entertainers, dancers and musicians will enchant and amaze audiences of all ages. It also fills me with pride that all proceeds from the sale of the wristbands from the evenings will be donated to my Mayoral Charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care.”

As dusk falls, hundreds of lanterns created by young people from community groups across the city will give the park a beautiful glow. An Artisan food fayre from some of Lisburn’s restaurants and cafés will provide delicious comfort food.

The Armagh Rhymers, one of Europe’s most celebrated folk theatre ensembles will carry on a tradition believed to be 2,500 years old and add their atmospheric mumming to the buzz of 5,000 Hallowe’en revellers.

A fantastic Fireworks Finale at 8.40pm will bring the evening of trick and treating to a close.

Describing the event as “a spell-binding spectacle,” the Chairman of Lisburn City Council’s Leisure Services Department, Alderman Paul Porter said: “I am proud to be a part of this established favourite on the city’s cultural calendar. Twilight Night by Fairy Light puts the city of Lisburn on the map but also reaffirms how festivities such as these have a popular impact on our community by bringing people together.”

Entry to Twilight Night by Fairy Light is by wristband only. Advance purchase is necessary.

Wristbands, priced at £1 each (max six per person), are on sale at the Bowling Pavilion, Lagan Valley Leisureplex and Brook Activity Centre, 6–8.30pm on Thursday 23 October.

Remaining wristbands will be available at Island Arts Centre from Friday 24 October 9.30am.

Capacity to the event is limited and wristbands are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Young people aged 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult when purchasing wristbands and attending the event.

Gates to Wallace Park will open at 7pm on Friday 31 October. Entry is via the Belfast Road and Magheralave Road entrances. Assistance Dogs only. Please wrap up warm.

The council encourage everybody attending to use public transport where possible and to respect the needs of local residents. Please note parking restrictions will be in place.
