Tried to stop fight but threw a punch

Michael McCavagan (21), Portland Manor, was fined £150 for disorderly behaviour on October 13 last year.

The defendant was initially seen on CCTV trying to stop a fight at William St but he was then seen going over and punching a man.

Defence said it was clear McCavagan was not the instigator and had attempted to drag friends away from a third party who was quite drunk and aggressive. He said the defendant lost his temper and punched someone innocent.
