Trust boss views progress on £10.4m Gransha unit

WESTERN Health and Social Care Trust Chief Executive, Elaine Way, visited the site of the new £10.4m state-of-the-art Mental Health Crisis Unit on the Gransha site to view progress on the project which is due for completion in July 2012.

Construction of the new facility started in January 2011 and is expected to be completed in July 2012.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs Way said: “This Unit at Gransha will herald a new era in the provision of mental health care for people in the West of the province.

“The new facility will create an environment to deliver improved standards of care and will have modern, fit for purpose accommodation for patients and staff.

“We are now nine months into construction and just under a year away from completion and the progress to date is tremendous.

“I look forward to walking through the doors of the new facility and seeing the continued development of mental health services on the Gransha site.”

When opened, the unit will provide integrated acute and intensive care inpatient mental health assessment and treatment for 30 patients as well as day care and community based support facilities for 25 places including a 24/7 integrated crisis team.
