Tully Crescent home 'refusal'

PLANNERS were of the opinion to turn down permission for a site for a single dwelling and domestic garage between 14 Tully Crescent and 45A Ballyeamon Road, Cushendall.

The applicants are Mr and Mrs D. Birt.

Sinn Fein councillor Oliver McMullan said similar developments were given the go-ahead.

Planners say there are no overriding reasons why the development is essential in a rural location and say it would result in the addition of ribbon development along a private lane and impact on the character of the area.

Planners further stated the development would prejudice the safety and convenience of road users since the restricted width of the existing access renders it unsatisfactory for increased use.

It was further stated the development would be detrimental to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and planners added that the cluster is not associated with a focal point and is not located at a crossroads and the dwelling would, if permitted, significantly alter the existing character of the cluster.
