Tullylagan Pipe Band launch charity CD

TULLYLAGAN Pipe Band are launching a new CD single ‘Glasgow Green’ at Cookstown Primary School next Friday.

The CD features local participants including Janet Nelson, Danielle Hamilton, Lois Glendinning and Christina Thompson (pictured). Also on the recording are Michael Nelson from Ravara Pipe Band looking after the piping, local man Geoff Hamilton from Tullylagan Pipe Band using his drumming skills and other musicians.

The CD contains pipes and drums music and song composed and written recently, the melody in concert pitch transposed to suit the pipes by Terry Tully of the world famous, world champion grade one band St Lawrence O’Tool Dublin.

The sentiments expressed in the song brings into view the most important day in the pipe band calendar, The World Pipe Band Championships held annually at Glasgow Green which attracts bands, supporters and spectators all over the world. Highland dancing, sports and other culture events entertain the large crowd.

The CD commences with the announcement of the Grade one winner for 2011 on this occasion Field Marshal Montgomery. This creates the right environment for what follows, permission for this was granted by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and Chief Executive himself, Mr Ian Embelton who features as the announcer at the beginning of the CD

Recorded professionally in Studio 19 Co Down, the proceeds of the CD will raise funds for those suffering from epilepsy.

The CD launch is on Friday 4 May at 8pm in Cookstown Primary School, admission is free and everyone is welcome.
