Turn on the Ignition at Sperrin Club

ARMAGH-based rock trio Ignition who are being tipped as the 'new Oasis' are headlining the charity event in Coleraine in honour of motor cyclist Robert Dunlop.

There is no doubt from the first listen to their music that they have been inspired by the Brit-pop era of the 90s as well as offering a real organic sound not much captured these days.

Dreaming of being able to hold a crowd like those they watched as fans, Martin Rafferty, Stephen Devlin and David Mulgrave began performing locally where they now fill pubs in their honour.

With two sold-out EP's already under their belt the band were given the opportunity to start recording the debut album at the legendary Olympic studios in London and worked with Scottish producer Iain MacDonald who has produced numerous chart hits and engineer Dave Emery, who has worked on some of the biggest singles by The Killers and Eric Clapton.

They were lucky enough to be recording next door to Lily Allen who had lunch with them each day and loved the material.

With Olympic now closed, the boys recorded a few tracks at Abbey Road and finished the album at the equally well-known RAK Studios in London. Absolute Marketing and Distribution have come on board to release and distribute the single ‘Take Me There’, which is due for release this May.

The event in Coleraine, which is to raise money for a sculpture in Robert Dunlop’s memory, is taking place at the Sperrin Club on Saturday, April 17and will also feature local band ‘Stolen Suits’ who cover 1970s rock classics and are sure to entertain.

Admission will be a voluntary donation of 5 and doors open at 8.30pm.
