At last week’s court Adam Hoey (20) from Burnview Terrace was given credit for his “honesty and frankness” and fined £100 with 6 penalty points.

The court heard how on 11 May at 10.20am, Hoey walked into Banbridge Police Station and said he was involved in a collision while driving a BMW. He said it was a single car damage only incident and he had been preparing the car for a race on private ground.

A solicitor for the welder said Hoey was preparing the car for racing when he lost control causing the car to flip.

“He innocently or honestly reported himself to the police.” Hoey was also told to pay an offender’s levy of £15.
