TV show is knocked out

CRAIGAVON missed out on the chance to take part in the popular TV show ‘It’s a Knock-Out’ in 1978.

Because presenters Eddie Waring and Stuart Hall were not available on Saturdays filming had to be on a Sunday.

And once again this ran up against the council’s never-on-a-Sunday policy. They declined the invitation to take part because of the Sunday filming.

Brownlow Community Council stepped in and offered to provide a team but this was rejected because it did not have council backing.

Councillor Frank Dale attacked the council, saying: “We have lost the chance of a lifetime. We could have sold Craigavon, shown it is not all shooting and murder here.”
