Two arrests after heroin found in Co Armagh

More than £8k worth of heroin was found in Co Armagh last night.

The substantial quantity of the Class A drug was found after a car was stopped in the Church St area of Poyntzpass.

Detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch arrested two people.

Detective Inspector Keith Gawley said: “The suspects, a 23 year old woman and a 38 year old man, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A controlled drug and possessing a class A controlled drug with intent to supply and are currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

“We have recovered a sizeable amount of heroin, estimated to have a street value in excess of £8000, and prevented potential harm to many people as a result of this operation.

“We are determined to reduce the availability of this killer drug and I appeal to anyone who has any concerns or information about illegal drugs to contact their local Police on the non-emergency number 101.
