Two burglaries on one day

Police are appealing for information following two burglaries in the Banbridge area on Wednesday, 13 January.

Sometime between 11.30am and 6.30pm a house on Old Newry Road was entered and ransacked.

Between 5.30pm and 8.30pm on the same day a house in Hawthorne Hill was also entered and was ransacked.

A sum of cash was stolen from this property.

Constable Sara Clements said: “We would like to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in these areas between these times.

“We are not linking the incidents at this stage however we could encourage anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact us on 101, quoting ref: 888 130116.“We are also reminding people to take steps to secure their property.

“Leave lights on in your home when it is unoccupied and store your valuables securely within your home.

“Always check the identity of cold callers and report any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood to police straight away.”
