Two draws for Peacock under 15's

DESPITE the wintry weather conditions, Bertie Peacock Under 15's managed to play two games over the festive period.

The first was a tough tie away to Larne Youths.

The Coleraine youngsters raced into a two goal lead with Gallagher and McVicker on target for the Wee Ants.

Larne pulled a goal back just before the break and they came out like a different side for the second half.

But the Peacock’s defence held firm. At the other end, McGonigle was unlucky, when his shot hit the crossbar.

The efforts of the home side finally paid off when they pulled a goal back, leaving the final score 2-2.

Man of the Match: Keith Gallagher.

On Saturday, the Under 15’s took on third placed Sion Swifts.

The final result was again a draw, but the Coleraine side really should have won the game.

The match was a great advertisement for the National League, with both teams playing great football.

Both sides cancelled each other out in the first half, and the game remained goal-less

McVicker found the woodwork early in the second half, at the other end Sion looked dangerous on the break, but the defence of Leese, Gallagher, Convery and Breone thwarted every attack.

Peacock’s felt they should have had a penalty after McGonigle was brought down inside the box, but it wasn’t to be and the match ended scoreless.
