Two female drivers ‘tried to stop’ Christmas assault in Maghera

Police have issued an appeal for information about an assault on a man in Maghera.

The victim was attacked opposite a public house at Main Street in the town around 1am on Christmas Eve.

Sergeant Sam Young said that the man sustained cuts and bruises to his face, neck and upper chest. One assailant was involved.

He added: “We now know that two cars stopped while the incident was taking place and the two female drivers tried to stop the assault. We would like to hear from them, or any other witnesses.”
