The Green Flag Award supported by Heyn Environmental Solutions is a prestigious award, setting an international benchmark standard for the management of parks and green spaces and is a sign that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Dungannon Park and Maghera Walled Garden, both managed by Mid Ulster District Council, are proud to fly the Green Flag in recognition of the outstanding quality of their green space and the hard work and dedication required to achieve such an outstanding award.

Deputy Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Sharon McAleer, who attended the recent award ceremony said: “It is a great honour for the council to be awarded not one, but two Green Flags.

“This achievement is testament to the hard work our staff put in to ensure that our high quality green spaces are as accessible, as environmentally sustainable, and as pleasant to use as they possibly can be for members of the public.

“I would encourage everyone to come and see these wonderful places when we host National Play Day in Dungannon Park on Wednesday, August 3, and Alice’s Wonderland with Mr Bloom in Maghera Walled Garden on Saturday, September 10, when you can experience for yourself the quality of these spaces!”

Dr Ian Humphreys, Chief Executive Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful added: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.
