Two new members for twinning commmittee

TWO non-elected members will be invited to sit on Larne Borough Council's Sister Cities committee.

The move is aimed at strengthening the borough’s links with Clover and York County in South Carolina.

Minutes of a confidential discussion in the council reveal that the existing Ulster American Society of Larne will fold and two of its members will join councillors on the Smiley Buildings committee “to assist with building a more comprehensive and cohesive programme”.

Councillors on the sub-committee will decide if the non-elected members will have voting rights. In the meantime, the council has resolved that the sub-committee will “resume a schedule of meetings”.
