Two quizzed after Londonderry man is killed in crash

Police in Foyle are questioning two men after an elderly Tullyally man died following a crash just outside Drumahoe.

Police have named the 69 year old man who died following an RTC on the Glenshane Road on the evening of Wednesday 17th April as David Richie. The collision occurred at around 8.45pm near Burntollet Bridge.

It is believed the deceased lived just a few miles from the scene of the smash.

A man and a woman remain in hospital being treated for injuries that are not thought to be life threatening .

Police said this morning: “Two men aged 22 and 26 have been arrested and are currently in custody helping police with their enquiries. “

Police are appealing for anyone who saw a black Vauxhall Astra and a silver Vauxhall Astra being driven on the Glenshane Road in the time leading up to the collision to contact the Collision Investigation Unit via Strand Road on 0845 600 8000.
