Two stores become one in Market Square

Smyth Patterson, which has been running JC Patterson for the past fourteen years, has taken the decision to combine the two stores into one.

They will begin the process of moving the shop, lock, stock and barrel into the Market Square store over the coming weeks.

The relocation of JC Patterson, which has been based in Graham Gardens since it moved from the corner of Bow Street and Market Street in 1988, will create a new superstore format.

It will be much larger than before and will carry a wider selection of televisions and electrical appliances all under one roof.

“Customers are seeing half the range in one location and half the range in another,” explained owner Colin Patterson.

“This move will amalgamate the whole thing together so that it is bigger and better than ever.

“We hope these changes will be a welcome development in Market Square for all our valued customers,” he added.

Robert Hassard, who has been with JC Patterson for 37 years, commented that he was looking forward to welcoming all customers to the new superstore.

A relocation sale will take place at Graham Gardens over the next two weeks where customers can find reductions on selected televisions, washing machines and other electrical appliances.

Carpets will remain on sale at the Graham Gardens premises during the relocation event.

But that department too will eventually move to a new department in the Market Square store.

Mr Patterson said the amalgamation was a natural move for the two stores.

He added that he was confident the new format would greatly benefit customers.

As well as combining the two shops, Smyth Patterson, who have been serving the people of Lisburn since 1935, are also looking to the future and are currently in the process of launching their brand new webstore.

“The future for us is to have everything in one place rather than split over two sites, combined with a new website.

This will allow customers to shop local but still have the convenience of internet shopping,” concluded Mr Patterson.
