Two vehicle collision

A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car following a two vehicle car crash outside Banbridge on Monday morning.

Police are appealing for information following the early morning road traffic accident, in which another car caught fire.

Two vehicles, a black Renault Megane and a red Peugeot 206 collided at the Scarva Road, around 7.10am as the Met Office warned of icy patches due to the drop in temperature. One car caught fire but the female occupant of the car got out before fire crews arrived. The fire was also put out by the time appliances arrived.

The two female drivers, aged 26 and 32, were taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A female in her mid 20s in the second car was heavily trapped and fire crews used hydraulic cutting gear to remove the casualty.

Both casualties were taken to hospital via ambulance. Fire crews said that the incident was dealt with by 8am.
