Tyres slashed in ‘hate crime’

Police are investigating two suspected hate crimes in the area of Rathlin Crest, off the Ballymoney Road, Ballymena after two cars were damaged.

Inspector Alison Ferguson said: “It is thought that sometime between Monday 16 February and Tuesday 17, a grey Audi had two tyres slashed.

“In a further incident between Tuesday and Wednesday evening, a Black Ford Mondeo had a tyre slashed. This also happened in Rathlin Crest, Ballymena.

“Both cars belong to members of the same family and we are treating the incidents as racially motivated hate crimes.”
