Tyrone actor Fra Fee proves Lyric Christmas musical is a real family affair

A dazzling production featuring the musicals of Stephen Sondheim this Christmas, will be a real family affair as Killyman actor Fra Fee is joined by his sisters Claire, Mairead and Aine.

Putting it Together is the latest offering from Blunt Fringe, the Belfast based production company set up by Claire (Murray) two years ago.

It will be the first time all four siblings from the Fee family have been involved in a production together.

While Fra will be joining cast members including Co Derry born Christina Tedders (Once, Calamity Jane) and Barry McGonagle (The World Goes ‘Round), Claire will be taking up the role of producer, while Mairead is costume designer and Aine or ‘Nan’ will be Company Manager.

The show also features Nicholas Pound (Les Miserables, Evita, Cats), Brad Clapson and Carol Starks who played Joanna in the the 1993 Royal National theatre production of Sondheim’s ‘Sweeney Todd’ alongside Julia McKenzie.

First produced by Cameron Mackintosh in New York over 20 years ago, and presented with his permission at the Lyric next month, ’Putting it Together’ is a musical review that tells a story: Set at a cocktail party in New York City, two couples reflect on the complexities that make up modern relationships. It features classics from Sondheim’s greatest musicals including Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Follies, Company, Sunday In The Park With George, Into The Woods and many more.

In a year jam-packed with tributes to Broadway composer and lyricist Sondheim, legendary for the sharp wit of his lyrics and his darkly distinctive musical scores, the Lyric Theatre will celebrate his 85th birthday with the Irish premiere of the production.
