Belfast Crown Court heard the presence of the terrorist training camp was discovered by the security forces, who had placed Kelly under surveillance.

Several conversations that were recorded between Kelly and Rafferty over a six month period in 2011 and 2012 revealed that the pair discussed the efficiency of various weapons. Other conversations included discussing the personal details and address of the Governor of HMP Maghaberry as well as funding.

Kelly and Rafferty also discussed details about the training camp at Formil Wood on the Gorticashel Road on the outskirts of Omagh.
