The letter, which was featured as an advertisement in the Guardian newspaper last Monday, said that since apologising for the killings on Bloody Sunday David Cameron has failed to conduct “effective, independent, reasonably prompt investigations into many other killings”.

The names of men and women from Coalisland, Moy, Cappagh and Aughnacloy were just some of those who deaths were listed.

“Mr Cameron you have failed to implement recommendations on how to deal with the legacy of conflict,” the letter said. “There are times when we suspect that your government is waiting us all to die, hoping you can then ignore our demands.

“But we will not go away. We demand fully independent investigations and implementation of the other legacy proposals. These are rights, not privileges.”
