Katherine McGuigan, of Garvagh Road, had several glowing references in court and a previous clear record, but was found guilty of forging Monica Lambe’s signature between May 22 and June 13, 2013.

The 50-year-old was also found guilty of an identical offence between June 13 and June 29, 2013. The two six month sentences are to run concurrently.

The court was told how McGuigan carried out her actions on instructions from her husband, who was allegedly caught for speeding and in danger of losing his licence.

In jailing the company director for six months, Judge Melody McReynolds said aggravating factors were the bullying of Mrs Lambe into swearing an untrue affidavit in an “attempt to impugn her own integrity to back up your lies”.
