Tyrone police officer collars excellence award

Const. O’Kane received her accolade during a ceremony in Cardiff on Tuesday, June 11th. She was acknowledged for her ‘outstanding attention to duty’.

The British Association for Women in Policing (BAWP) recognises the contributions and achievements of women within the police service with the only awards in policing specifically aimed at women.

Const. O’Kane has been a police officer for ten years, and during her service, she has worked in both rural and response policing before being posted to the Domestic Abuse Unit. In her role, Const. O’Kane actively supports victims, and has established good working relationships with other statutory and voluntary partners. In 2007 she completed a six month secondment to An Garda Siochana.

Commending Const. O’Kane, F District Commander, Chief Superintendent Pauline Shields, said: “Morag is an outstanding officer who has excelled in her current role, she has repeatedly delivered for victims, not only providing great quality investigations but being there day and night, off duty and on to support them. I am enormously proud to call her one of my officers and to see her nominated for the excellence in performance category of the British Association for Women in Policing Awards.”
