Tyrone police woman charged with causing death by dangerous driving

A 40-year-old police officer has been charged with six driving offences, including causing death by dangerous driving, in relation to the death of Omagh father Paul Mills in October.

The Mid Ulster woman, who was off-duty when the fatal crash occurred, will also face one count of dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, failing to stop where an accident occurred causing injury, failing to report an accident whereby injury was caused and failing to remain where an accident occurred causing injury.

All of the charges are in relation to the collision on the Dromore Road, Omagh at around 10pm on Saturday October 10 in which 49-year-old Mr Mills lost his life.

The woman is due before Omagh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 9.
