Tyrone to host biggest outdoor country music festival in Ireland

There's just over a month now until the cream of Country music take over the grounds of the Ulster American Folk Park on the outskirts of Omagh for the first 'Country In The Park' country music festival.

Unlike other Country festivals, Country in the Park from PS Promotions headed by Shane Pritchard will afford a clutch of new artistes their day in the Sun “ we hope for the Sun” , explained Shane as new faces on the country scene join the household names ,

Artistes such as Kerry Fearon, finalist on Glor Tire, Darren Kieran, Lisa McCrory , the lovely Patricia Maguire and Paschal Mc Anenly join several visiting artistes from Scotland and Canada. Some of this area’s best talent too currently away from home making a name for themselves on the UK and other professional circuits will also make a welcome return home.

Over the two days Saturday 28th and 29th May The folk Park, classed as one of the top four tourist attractions in Northern Ireland will open it’s doors for the event.

Famed for it’s bluegrass festival this will be the first Country music event of this kind and is being classed as the biggest outdoor country music festival in the country this year.

The entertainers include Philomena Begley, Cliona,, Dominic Kirwan, Lee Matthews, Jimmy Buckley. Johnny Brady, Brian Coll, Declan Nerney, Hugo Duncan, Sean Loughrey, Patrick Feeney, Ritchie Remo, John McNicholl, Gerry Cuthrie, Aidan Quinn, Elaine Boyle, The Benn Sisters, Martin Moane, Paul Kelly, Eamon McCann, Barry Kirwan, Jim Devine, Shawn Cuddy, Vicky Kenny, Brendan Quinn, Crystal Swing, Sandy Kelly, Curtis Magee, ,Ben Currie, Stevie Doyle, Gary Quinn, Damien McCarthy, Anthony McBrien and Declan Burke to name a few.

It’s a big undertaking but Shane Pritchard is looking forward to the weekend: “We have a great high quality line up, we have pulled out all the stops and looked at this professionally, the Folk Park have been such a great help to us and the Park will look great. The tickets are selling really fast and it looks like being a sell out and while it’s been hard work it will be worth it, we can’t wait.”

Pritchard has a small team with him working on the festival but the response from the public has been stunning, a first post on facebook attracted almost 200, 000 views in a week, phenomenal stuff !.

It comes as no surprise that the festival is coming to the heartland of Tyrone, The rich heritage of country music is woven into the very fabric of the County and its hinterland, the wonderful singers and musicians who have travelled the highways and byways of Ireland and beyond for many decades will certainly feel at home at the Omagh park,

It’s a special year for the park too as it will be celebrating its 40th anniversary through this year of 2016.

Three stages will host this exceptional varied mix of country stars over the two days, each day gets underway at 2pm, wrapping up at 9pm daily and its nonstop music with established artistes rubbing shoulders with those new kids on the block, this offering patrons a unique experience to sample what really is the best quality line up assembled this year, adding to the occasion over the two days will be a host of well known compares including BBC Radio Ulster’s Hugo Duncan and Downtown Radios Big T the one and only Trevor Campbell
