U4D takes Magee conversation online

A GROUP dedicated to the improvement of university provision in Londonderry has established a website to allow people to comment on its dramatic proposals to expand Magee.

Padraig Canavan, chair of University for Derry (U4D), said: "Our proposals to expand Magee towards the city centre are visually stunning and would regenerate a part of the city centre that has been badly damaged by the weak economy of recent years.

"Our plans would help to make full and proper use of our wonderful riverfront. Even more importantly, our proposals to expand Magee to around 10,000 students would have a direct and positive impact on Derry-Londonderry and would provide assets that will drive our city forward - a supply of labour with the skills for the modern economy. That would attract much higher levels of inward investment, as well as enable local businesses to expand and thrive.

"Magee is already an excellent resource for the city. We want to make it an even greater resource. We hope that when more people view our plans on our website, they will agree."
