100 rural applications

NEARLY 100 planning applications for homes in the Londonderry countryside were approved in 2011/12, the Environment Minister Alex Attwood has advised.

During the same year 88 applications for rural dwellings were received by the planning service. Just seven were refused.

In Limavady there were even more applications, both approved (121) and received (123). Twelve were refused in Limavady. In Strabane there were 114 approvals, 118 applications and six refusals. Between June 2011 and October last year there were 43 applications for farm dwellings in Londonderry; 53 in Limavady; and 37 in Strabane.

And during the same timeframe 53 applications for business premises in Londonderry were decided with a 96 per cent approval rate.
