On Sunday (August 25) “Derry Walls Day” will be used to celebrate the anniversary of the moment in August 1613 when two representatives from the City of London “viewed and trode out the ground at the Derry for the fortification there.”

A thousand people will line the Walls in specially designed ‘Wave on the Walls’ red T-shirts. According to the Trust: “Four hundred years on, we want the most diverse range of organisations to help us make a big statement that Derry’s Walls belong to everyone.”

The event will be followed by a ‘Charter Market at the Ship Key’ with living history performers, demonstrations of weapons and costumes, livestock, food and street theatre in Guildhall Square.
