Agriculture Minister Michelle O’Neill said another horse transporter was also refused due to non-compliance with welfare certification regulations.

Mrs O’Neill explained: “In 2012, three consignments of horses were refused export from the north of Ireland due to non-compliances under the Horse Passport Regulations. As these were first time offenders a verbal warning was given.

“A further horse transporter was refused export from the north of Ireland due to non-compliances with transport (welfare) documentation.”
