800k GB folk targeted

AN electronic marketing campaign specifically targeting 800k potential visitors to Londonderry UK City of Culture 2013 from Great Britain, is just one of the efforts being supported by Tourism Minister Arlene Foster to market the landmark celebrations.

Tourism Ireland is also placing a series of advertorials in the London press. And recently an eight-page supplement promoting Londonderry UK City of Culture 2013 was published in a well-known Sunday broadsheet.

Foyle MLA Mark H. Durkan asked the Minister what she was doing specifically to market the UK City of Culture 2013

The Tourism Minister replied: “Tourism Ireland is responsible for marketing the island of Ireland in Great Britain and overseas markets and in 2013 will support the UK City of Culture by implementing a major programme of promotional activity focusing on Londonderry UK City of Culture and on other big events taking place in 2013 such as the World Police and Fire Games and the G8 summit.”

“Activity includes an eight page supplement on Londonderry in the Sunday Telegraph, a series of advertorials placed in travel sections of national press and an e-marketing campaign targeting approximately 800,000 potential Great Britain visitors,” the Minister added.
