DUP MP Gregory Campbell has asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps he has taken to promote women’s rights in Afghanistan.

Under Secretary Hugh Robertson said the issue is regularly raised with the Afghan Government and authorities.

“During her visit to Afghanistan early last month, the Senior Minister of State, my right honourable and noble Friend, the Baroness Warsi, underlined the importance of upholding historic gains in all areas since 2001, including human rights, education and health, with Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Ershad Ahmadi, and other Government representatives,” he said.
