Of 71 MPs asked to return money by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), Mr Campbell owed the second highest figure. Formerly MPs from outside London could claim mortgage interest on second homes but IPSA banned the practice in May 2010. Mr Campbell agreed to pay back £61,403.18 having claimed interest of £16,755.00. David Simpson (£11,208.65 claims; £30,308.40 repayment); Willie McCrea (£6,929.91 claims; £29,793.60 repayment); Nigel Dodds (£25,434.16 claims; £19,507.76 repayment); Jeffrey Donaldson (£20,338.06 claims; £1,448.46 repayment); and Sammy Wilson (£19,633.90 claims; £1,448.46 repayment) also agreed to pay money back.
