Dopey Dick’s distant cousin enjoys frothy frolic during Fleadh

A DISTANT cousin of Dopey Dick visited Londonderry during the Fleadh on Thursday and danced a slippery jig up and down the river between the Craigavon Bridge and the Peace Bridge.

The city’s no stranger to cetacean visitors, with dolphins, porpoises and even the odd whale making their way up the waterway, most famously when ‘Dopey Dick,’ the Killer Whale, came up the Foyle in 1977.

On Thursday (August 15) the Sentinel filmed what it reckons was a dolphin frolicking in the froth during the Fleadh.

The paper’s not sure if it was a bottle nosed or common dolphin.

Perhaps the Kerry folk brought Fungi up for the festival.
