Ebrington framework behind target

AN interim-use policy to enable OFMDFM, Ilex and other Departments say what operations would add value to Ebrington was one of a number of mitigating actions taken because the development framework for the site was behind schedule.

Now that the interim use policy is in place there has been “substantial interest from the private sector.” The revelation was made by OFMDFM official Tim Losty during an evidence session at Stormont.

SDLP MLA Colum Eastwood said Ebrington looked great but more needed to be done to bring it into use.

“You can correct me if I am wrong, but it took something like 18 months to get permission from the Department and to get through the red tape to get a sandwich van over there,” said Mr Eastwood.

Mr Losty said OFMDFM had asked for an “interim-use policy” to enable statutory developers “say what types of operations would add value to the site.”

Mr Losty said it was one of a number of mitigating actions taken due to the Ebrington development framework being behind schedule.
