Fiorentini is NCH rising star of 2014

One of the extended Fiorentini family from the North West has been awarded the National Concert Hall’s ‘Rising Star’ award for 2014.

The Greencastle pianist will perform Haydn’s Sonata in B minor, Brahms’ 6 Klavierstucke Op. 118 and Chopin’s piano sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58, at her upcoming recital at the NCH on Thursday (March 20).

NCH boss Simon Taylor said: “We are delighted to bestow the NCH Rising Star Award to such a remarkable and gifted young pianist as Nadene.

“As the leading venue for the performance of music in Ireland, the NCH takes pride in providing such an opportunity for Irish musicians and to support their efforts in establishing a musical career.”

Since becoming the highest placed Irish competitor at the Dublin International Piano Competition in 2012, Nadene has been in increasing demand as both a soloist and accompanist.

Currently studying for a Doctorate of Performance in Music at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), Nadene was recently appointed as an examiner for the RIAM, where she also teaches piano and works as an accompanist.

Previous recipients of The National Concert Hall Rising Star Award include: 2013 winner Brian O’Kane (cello), 2012 winner Claudia Boyle (soprano), 2011 winner Fiachra Garvey (piano), 2010 winner Tara Erraught (mezzo-soprano), 2009 winner Redmond O’Toole, (guitar), 2008 winner Michael McHale (piano), 2007 winner Emer McDonough (flute), 2006 winner Elizabeth Cooney (violin) and 2005 winner Cathal Breslin (piano).
