“As an emergency service we have worked in partnership with Foyle Search and Rescue at countless emergency incidents over the years on the River Foyle and throughout the North West and there is no doubt that they are a vital asset to the local community.

“Our Firefighters, who are giving up their free time to support this cause, want as many people as possible to come along, get their car washed and donate what they can.

“All funds received on the day will go towards helping Foyle Search and Rescue continue to deliver a vital role in search and rescue incidents in the North West and beyond.”

Craig Smith, Chairman, Foyle Search and Rescue said: “Foyle Search and Rescue would like to offer their thanks to the Round table for holding the fundraiser and equally to NIFRS at Crescent Link who will facilitate the car wash on their premises.

“Foyle Search and Rescue was set up in 1993 and is now in its 20th year. Without the generosity of the local community we wouldn’t be able to continue, we owe a great debt of gratitude to everyone that has helped us on our way over the past 20 years and we will continue to serve the community for many years to come.”

Mark Gault, Chairman, Londonderry Roundtable commented: “Having contacted NIFRS at the end of May this year for their assistance with a charity car wash to raise funds for Foyle Search and Rescue, I was very pleased that they agreed.”

“We have been involved in raising funds for Foyle Search and Rescue in previous years and feel that they are a very worthwhile charity. We appeal to everyone to come along on the day to support Foyle Search and Rescue whose invaluable voluntarily work contributes immensely to the city.”

The charity car wash takes place at Crescent Link Fire Station from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday (September 14) 2013 to raise vital funds for Foyle Search and Rescue.
