IT was 1966 when Stanley and Roberta McMinn and their three children moved into the old National School house at Burntollet Bridge.

Both were about as far from their nativity in Northern Ireland - Stanley was originally from Bessbrook and Roberta from Bangor - as possible.

They bought the house from the Donaghy family. The deeds go back as far as the 1830s when it was listed as a dispensary attached to the Lyle estate

The Cumber Presbyterian Church also owned the property at some stage.

It was a school for many years in the early 1900s until Killaloo Cumber Primary School opened in 1931.
