Derry City Council is already looking for someone to run a pub in the seat of local Government power during the event.

According to a Derry City Council tender for the provision of bar facilities: “The Mayor, Councillor Kevin Campbell, will host the Civic Ball on Friday, May 31, 2013.

“The Civic Ball is the first formal occasion to be held in the newly refurbished Guildhall and Derry City Council is desirous of securing the services of a licensed bar for this high profile event and expects a high quality service befitting of the importance of the event to Derry City Council.”

Over 200 quests will attend a champagne reception before drinking 60 bottles of wine during a meal.

In January a Council spokesperson said: “It is anticipated that the building will reopen, as planned, in early June 2013.”
