The story of how the Battle of the Somme affected the community of Drumahoe back in 1916, will be told again in the theatre over November 20-23.

According to the Theatre: “Set in the quiet village of Drumahoe and on the battlefields of the Somme in 1916, Home for Christmas tells the story of a group of young men who signed up for the great adventure of World War I.

“From their life before enlistment, through training, to the Somme on 1st July 1916, their story contrasts with the story of those family members left behind worrying for the return of their loved ones, as adventure turned to nightmare.”

Presented by East Bank Protestant Boys Flute Band, it’s the first time since 2001 that it’s been produced.
