Lisneal exits intervention

LISNEAL exited formal intervention in March three years after an inspection revealed pupils were being inadequately schooled in key subjects such as Science and English. Improvement was marked in November.

Irish language school Gaelscoil na Daróige also exited formal intervention in March 2012.

In February the Sentinel reported how Lisneal was one of 21 schools across Northern Ireland still in formal intervention but that has now changed.

A follow-up inspection to the March 2010 review in November 2012 found that the standards for GCSE English had improved and were considered satisfactory and that the work in science was ‘outstanding.’

Education Minister John O’Dowd revealed the development in response to an Assembly Question.
