Man knocked out in‘sectarian attack’ in broad daylight

A man was knocked out in broad daylight in Londonderry on Wednesday (April 23) in what’s perceived to have been a sectarian attack.

The PSNI are appealing for information about the assault that is perceived to have had a sectarian motivation.

The incident happened on the ‘zig zag’ between Rosemount and the Glen Road at about 3pm on Wednesday.

A man walking in the area was approached by a male wearing a blue hoodie with white laces and grey tracksuit bottoms.

He is described as being approximately 5’ 9” skinny build, about 19 to 21 years old with short brown hair.

The injured party was called an offensive name and was punched in the face. As a result he was knocked unconscious and suffered a swollen, split lip.
