Man lifted over armed robbery of two bookies

A 34-year-old man believed to have been involved in two armed robberies in Londonderry on Wednesday (January 15) was helping police with their enquiries on Thursday morning.

Detectives in Foyle are appealing for information after a report of two armed robberies at bookmakers on Strand Road and Foyle Street.

Shortly after 6pm, it was reported that a man entered the premises in the Strand Road area armed with a suspected firearm.

It is believed that a member of staff was ordered to hand over a quantity of money during the incident.

The male is believed to have driven off in a black car towards Bishop Street. The car was found in the Bishop Street area.

Shortly after 6.30pm, it was reported that a male entered a premises at the Foyle Street area armed with a suspected firearm.

A member of staff inside the premises was ordered to hand over a quantity of money during the incident. No one was believed to have been injured during the incident.
